Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN):
NP is an integral member of the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) Clinic.
1.
Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience and creative approaches in management of the complex patient populations.
2.
Functions in an advanced level of nursing practice characterized with complex clinical decision making with inpatient and outpatients.
3.
Performs comprehensive psychiatric assessments including mental status examination and differential diagnosis.
4.
Orders diagnostic tests and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
5.
Collaborates with the physician in the use of protocols/references that will guide the Nurse Practitioner in the management of specific mental or health problems.
6.
Prescribes pharmacological treatment for outpatients in the direct management of acute or chronic mental health disorders.
7.
Provides direct patient care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, and may direct the patient in non-pharmacological interventions as related to mental health problems, health promotion, and preventative care, including monitoring pharmacological effectiveness, medication side effects, and pain management.
8.
Provides customer focused and cost effective approach to all aspects of patient care.
9.
Provides leadership in consultation, education, and quality improvement processes.
10.
Ensures that the practice of nursing is consistent with Joint Commission, CARF, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice psychiatric guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, mandatory continuing education, and HIPPA policies.
11.
Functions independently with members of multidisciplinary team through collaboration, consultation, mutual referrals to develop and implement an individualized treatment plan and programs to meet the needs of the patients.
12.
Makes referrals to other health professionals and community agencies.
13.
Provides psychological and social support measures and counseling to the patient and family regarding psychiatric diagnoses, medications, and plans of care.
14.
Assesses, prescribes, administers, and evaluates pharmacotherapeutic and non - pharmacotherapeutic regimens.
15.
Manages acute and chronic psychiatric symptoms in patients who have mental illnesses.
16.
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients that promotes wellness and prevents disease/ injury/ disability.
17.
Consults and collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals to manage complex mental health problems.
Develops outcome measures to monitor the quality of care and effectiveness of services.
Utilizes research that contributes to the improvement of patient/ family outcomes.
Initiates and participates in interdisciplinary development of treatment plans.
18.
Identifies and collaborates with the resolution of system issues which influence the provision of patient care.
19.
Plans and provides in-service education programs for staff related to mental health topics as needed and requested.
20.
May occasionally work in other outpatient clinics on a temporary basis.
This may involve:
taking histories; brief physical examinations; mental status examinations; ordering routine diagnostic tests; assessing medication needs, medication changes or dose titration, and prescribing medications.
This is a Bargaining Unit position.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
