The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service at CTVHCS offers superb opportunities and resources, including state-of-the-art electrodiagnostic instruments, a C-arm and fluoroscopy suite, radiofrequency generator, and ultrasound imaging.
Services include an outpatient Polytrauma and Traumatic Brain Injury Program, Amputee Clinic, and pain pump refills.
Our proximity to Fort Hood provides a large population of male and female patients of all age groups who require interventional pain management using a multi-disciplinary approach.
We provide high quality service for our Veterans by placing an emphasis on wellness and fitness, therapeutic excellence, and an interdisciplinary approach to care.
Rehabilitation Psychology, Psychiatry, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Recreation Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, and Physical Therapy work as a rehabilitative team to optimize patient function.
We also offer alternative medicine approaches, including chiropractic care and acupuncture, for appropriate patients.

The Physician Assistant (PA) will be assigned to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service, at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) in Temple, Texas.
The PA is authorized to perform the following tasks on a regular and ongoing basis.
These duties may be performed without specific prior discussion with the supervising physician.
o Perform initial and interim history and physical examinations on current inpatients and outpatients.
These will be reviewed by the supervising physician, who will note concurrence or addendum as indicated.
o Perform period physical examinations.
o Perform musculoskeletal specialty examinations in manner directed by the supervising physician.
o Screen outpatients to determine need for further health care.
o Order laboratory tests, x-rays, EKG's and comparable diagnostic procedures, consistent with the privileges of their supervising physicians.
o May initiate or expedite requests for consultations, special tests, or studies.
o Make appropriate initial or interim summaries and progress notes in the patient's medical records.
o Provide education and counseling of patients and family in preventive care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatment and drugs.
o Draw blood specimens for testing and performing other comparable laboratory procedures when personnel who customarily perform such procedures are not available.
o Provide assistance to pain management physicians with epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablations, medial branch blocks and other procedures as appropriate.
o Continuation of Scope of Practice for Pain Management PA, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Serviceo Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
o May perform joint and intramuscular injections of medication.
o Provide records and documentation as an active member of the multi-disciplinary pain clinic and the pain committee.
o May order and provide telephone consultation on pain management and planning.
o Initiate treatment for minor injuries and such as pain abrasions, contusions and burns.
o May counsel patients on VA policy of Informed Consent for Procedures, narcotics, contracts, and informed consent for opiod management.
o May counsel patient and obtain consents for any procedure within his/her scope of practice.
Preferred
Experience:
Two years of experience in a practice that included care of patients with musculoskeletal problems (e.
g.
, Physical Medicine, Orthopedics, or Rheumatology).
This is a bargaining unit position.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
