Physician (Hospitalist) (VACAA)
This position is located in Temple, Texas and will be assigned to Medical Service.
Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is looking for a board eligible/board certified internist to join our section of hospital medicine.
The CTVHCS is aligned with the Texas A&M as its academic affiliate and a key education site for medical students and residents.
The section currently has 14 hospitalists and one PA and a robust teaching program.
Clinical responsibilities of the Hospitalist will be to work within the scope of an internist including, but not limited to the following:
admission and discharging of patients, daily work rounds and daily management of patients under their care; initiation and expedition of consults, special tests, or studies; and ordering and follow-up of all diagnostic tests and studies.
Incumbents are expected to serve as attending physicians of a teaching team comprised of medical house staff and students.
In this role, the physician will perform daily work and teaching rounds with trainees and will be responsible for clinical work performed by residents and students.
Staff hospitalists are expected to participate in on-call duties for their patients as per call schedule.
We have onsite night hospitalists and, on occasion, daytime hospitalists are asked to cover nights.
Physicians must comply with VHA performance measures.
Incumbents are expected to participate in quality improvement processes.
Board Certification in Internal Medicine and/or hospital medicine is highly desirable.
Previous experience as hospitalist is desired as is recognition in teaching excellence.

IF PATIENT NEEDS ARISE, THE INCUMBENT OF THE ABOVE POSITION MAY BE REASSIGNED WITHIN THE CENTRAL TEXAS VETERANS HEALTH CARE SYSTEM.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate Lifting, 15-44 lbs; Light Lifting, under 15 lbs; Use of fingers; New vision correctable at 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Hearing (aid permitted).

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
