Physician (Neurosurgeon) - VACAA

This is a bargaining unit position.
We are seeking a full-time Neurosurgeon for Surgical Service in Temple, Texas.
The neurosurgeon's responsibilities include clinical duties, triaging consultations emanating from Primary Care and other specialties for patient appointments, admitting patients as necessary, work-up, surgical and/or medical treatment of patients presenting with illness or injuries within the realms of the neurosurgery specialty.
Incumbent performs operating room (OR) duties, and minor procedures which may or may nclude conscious sedation.
Responsible for regular post-operative follow-up care, patient teaching and wound care upon discharge, completes all medical documentation, including pre/post op procedure notes and reports, progress notes and discharge orders and summaries in a timely manner according to policy.
Provide patients with risks, benefits and alternative treatments and securing the informed consent of the patient/family needed before conducting invasive procedures as required based on policy.
Evaluates the patient to assess any changes in the physical status, lab values and vital signs of the patient prior to surgery.
Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations and pre-operative patient and Operating Room evaluations.
Participate in various hospital committees, department and hospital in-service programs and complete continuing medication education (CME) as required.
Provide written medical opinions and peer reviews as requested.
The neurosurgeon is responsible for residents' and medical students' education and training, as well as responsible for attending oversight of the care provided by residents and students, if assigned (Neurosurgery Section currently has no residents assigned).
Incumbent may be required to perform on-call duties.
Neurosurgeon will participate in the administration of programs, committees, staff meetings and other staff functions as delegated by the Associate Chief of Staff and Administrative Officer for Surgical Service and Chief of Staff of the facility.
Board certified (BC) or board eligible (BE) preferred Neurosurgeon.
Highly sought qualifications include Fellowship in Stereotactic Functional Neurosurgery and active operating skills.
IF PATIENT NEEDS ARISE, THE INCUMBENT OF THE ABOVE POSITION MAY BE REASSIGNED WITHIN THE CENTRAL TEXAS VETERANS HEALTH CARE SYSTEM.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
